The finish we leave behind
A clean house is hard to photograph, because clean mostly looks like nothing is wrong. So look at the places that give a job away. They are the grout lines, the top of the range hood, the corners of a stair tread and the window sills. Those are the spots we check before we call a job done.
Where a rushed clean shows
A quick clean wipes what you can see from the doorway. It skips the top of the fridge and the baseboards behind the bed, and a week later the house looks tired again.
We work from the top of a room down. Dust we knock off a ceiling fan or a shelf lands on a floor that hasn't been cleaned yet. The floor is always last.
Move-outs and renovations need more work
An empty house shows everything. With the furniture gone you see the dust lines where a dresser sat and the grease behind the stove. A move-out clean goes into all of it, which matters when a landlord or a buyer walks through.
After construction the problem is fine dust. It hangs in the air after the sanding stops, then settles on every ledge and inside every drawer. It takes more than one pass, because the first pass always stirs some of it back up.
